The Estoril Coast extends from the Atlantic Ocean and the Tagus river estuary in the south and west up to the northern boundary of the parish of Cascais. It is close to the most westerly point in Europe. The area is near Lisbon and is served by Lisbon International Airport. Road and rail networks are excellent. The most westerly point in Europe lies within the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park which has a tremendous variety of landscapes and atmospheres.

Near Estoril, the majestic Sintra Mountains cast a veil of mystery over the town nestling on its northern slopes. The hills and the surrounding area have been classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage site both for their cultural significance and for their outstanding natural beauty. Built in 1930, the Hotel Palácio today still enjoys many of the refined features of the period. The hotel’s unique atmosphere inspires all who walk through its doors, from its impressive facade and beautifully landscaped gardens to its classically styled interiors. Throughout its rich history Hotel Palácio has welcomed famous visitors from around the world. Guests include numerous heads of state, film stars, sports personalities and royalty. In fact, the Prince of Japan and his wife were among our first guests, enjoying their honeymoon in one of our sumptous suites.
During World War II, with Portugal’s neutrality, Estoril was a heaven for European royalty, and became known as the “Coast of Kings”. Hotel Palácio was home to various royals, but was also frequented by both British and German spies, who often met for drinks at our Estoril Bar. Later, these stories of intrigue and espionage inspired various famous books and films, with the hotel providing a stage for the James Bond movie, “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service”. Hotel Palácio has since benefitted from several refurbishments and renovations. Today, it offers all the modern comforts and conveniences of an exclusive five star resort, but always with the greatest care to preserve the hotel’s unique classical heritage. So you can feel at home, enjoying the best of both worlds. To know more about the Hotel please click http://www.palacioestorilhotel.com/index.html.
